Harvest Storm BW

Description:

Building within the plains of the Yampa Valley Basin, a powerful August storm collides with the Sleeping Giant under the cover of night. The pursuit of this image took nearly a dozen attempts during a short period when ready-for-harvest hay bales were perfectly positioned for an aesthetic composition of a classic Routt County scene.

For many years I’ve wanted to capture a unique photograph featuring the Sleeping Giant and lightning strikes. In late July of 2023, this field showcased hay bales ready for harvest, and perfectly placed for an aesthetic composition. Over the course of the following two weeks, I ventured out to the location 10 times pursuing the perfect shot, aware the hay bales might be harvested and disappear any day. On this evening, I noticed a dramatic storm rolling into the valley, and rushed out to the location. Quickly setting up my equipment, I braced myself for the storm. When it hit, the wind was so powerful it was hard to keep the camera weighted down to capture a still image. With lighting strikes surrounding me, I hovered beside my camera attempting to shield it from sheets of rain and wind. Completely drenched, during the mayhem I managed to capture this 30 second exposure, barely avoiding water damage to my equipment.

Limited Edition Size: 100 pieces

Limited edition pieces are assigned a fixed edition number that doesn't change, the first number being the unique print number, and the second being the edition number itself. The first piece printed is assigned no. 1, and consecutively numbered until the last piece in the edition is sold (regardless of print size or artwork style). The smaller the edition, the more collectible the work is. The pieces will never be printed again upon edition completion.

Installation & Handling

PRINTS:  Upon receiving an artwork print, do not remove the print for personal inspection. Please consult your local framing expert when you're ready to frame, thus preventing creases and scratches.

Each print includes a white border that can either be matted over during the framing process, or a portion of the border utilized to your liking. Typically a double matte of varying thickness acheives the best framing results, matting over the white border edge. Regardless, consult your local framing expert to acheive the best results.

SHOWCASING ARTWORK:  Display artwork in a well lit area, and never display in direct sunlight for archival longevity.

Artwork Returns:

The Wetzel Gallery will only accept returns if an artwork piece is damaged upon shipment, or if a mistake was made within the printing process resulting in a photograph that doesn't accurately match the correlating product order. If shipping damages are experienced, please document the damages immediately with the shipping carrier, and reach out to our team for further instruction. We are dedicated to ensuring your artwork arrives absolutely perfect. info@wetzelgallery.com
