Quiet Mind

Description:

In June of 2020, I was shooting landscape imagery of Rabbit Ears Peak and wondered what the climbing route looked like to summit. I’d heard rumors of bolted routes, but had never personally known anyone to summit.  After wandering up to the base of the ears, the route was obvious. After a few climbing moves I found myself on top, thinking – nobody knows I'm up here, I probably should get down now.  Immediately the idea came to me, silhouetting a lone hiker atop Rabbit Ears Peak in the night.

Most concepts take a few years before they can be pursued, and finally in July of 2023 I set out with my friend Mary Wiemken. With Mary being an experienced climber, she would be comfortable with the exposure, therefore perfect for the pursuit. For a couple hours, Mary stood on the edge of the ears, staring off into the abyss with a headlamp on, and remaining still between takes for the longer exposure.

Within adventure or action sports photography, there’s always an extreme level of communication between the athlete and the photographer. The result typically depends on both individuals. I love this concept, a simple composition of a well-known landscape, but adding the human element within the frame for scale and mood, a small detail that tells a much deeper story.

Limited Edition Size: 100 pieces

Limited edition pieces are assigned a fixed edition number that doesn't change, the first number being the unique print number, and the second being the edition number itself. The first piece printed is assigned no. 1, and consecutively numbered until the last piece in the edition is sold (regardless of print size or artwork style). The smaller the edition, the more collectible the work is. The pieces will never be printed again upon edition completion.

Installation & Handling

PRINTS:  Upon receiving an artwork print, do not remove the print for personal inspection. Please consult your local framing expert when you're ready to frame, thus preventing creases and scratches.

Each print includes a white border that can either be matted over during the framing process, or a portion of the border utilized to your liking. Typically a double matte of varying thickness acheives the best framing results, matting over the white border edge. Regardless, consult your local framing expert to acheive the best results.

SHOWCASING ARTWORK:  Display artwork in a well lit area, and never display in direct sunlight for archival longevity.

Artwork Returns:

The Wetzel Gallery will only accept returns if an artwork piece is damaged upon shipment, or if a mistake was made within the printing process resulting in a photograph that doesn't accurately match the correlating product order. If shipping damages are experienced, please document the damages immediately with the shipping carrier, and reach out to our team for further instruction. We are dedicated to ensuring your artwork arrives absolutely perfect. info@wetzelgallery.com
